The latest technology products may now be in the possession of the UK’s luckiest dads that were lavished by their children this weekend.
PR manager at online retailer Firebox.com Claire Wood suggested before Father’s Day (June 21st) that increasingly tech-savvy dads will boost gadget sales over the weekend.
Apple already announced that sales of the new iPhone 3G S, launched at the end of last week, have topped one million, but other accessories including Canon cameras and iPods are also expected to have done well.
Ms Wood explained: "Dads love their gadgets and the trendsetting children are doing their best to keep their dads up to date with the next big thing to hit the technology world."
She added that she expects USB negative scanners to have been popular "as children like to encourage their dads to convert all those old, redundant negatives into digital files so that they can be easily stored and shared".
Technology goods were also tipped for big things this Father’s Day by shopping search engine Sortprice.com, which indicated that the iPod touch and Canon PowerShot camera are expected to do particularly well.
Other items expected to enjoy success included grills and griddles and satellite navigation devices.
