TomTom set for iPhone release

A version of satellite navigation software TomTom has been released for the iPhone 3G and 3GS.

Now available from Apple’s App Store, priced at £59.99 for the UK and Ireland version, the developers have also designed a car kit that offers secure docking, while further enhancing the GPS performance of the application.

The kit allows users to make hands-free calls and charges the device on the road.

TomTom iPhone offers on-the-fly directions with voice commands offering extra guidance.

Intelligent routes makes sure that users reach their destination as efficiently as possible, rather than been taken on a trek through the countryside to reach a major city.

Addresses can be chosen by accessing the contacts book and places of interest can be found, booked and routed all from within the application.

Users have a choice of a 2D or 3D map display and if travelling at night a blue background can be chosen to avoid the brighter daylight glare.

The programme can also give users safety camera and speed warnings through audio and visual warnings on the iPhone’s screen.

For those travelling abroad, TomTom has just released versions for western Europe, US and Canada, Australia and New Zealand, which are all available in the App Store.ADNFCR-2524-ID-19326639-ADNFCR
