iPlayer application rumoured for iPhone release

Internet blogs are rife with speculation that the BBC could be about to release a special iPlayer application into the App Store.

For use with Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch, the application will allow people to not only view their favourite TV shows from the BBC, but to download them onto their handsets as well.

Screenshots leaked in the corporation’s monthly press pack appear to show functions which would also allow iPhone users to view live content as well as streaming radio and interactive options.

BBC viewers will also be able to ’send a message’ to the programme, presumably allowing people to give feedback or fan mail.

iPhone users can currently access a mobile version of the BBC iPlayer website through their Safari browser, giving them access to all the content which is available to viewers from PCs and laptops.

However, the ability to download the latest episode of Eastenders or David Attenborough’s Life and then watch it when there is no phone signal will be a major plus for iPhone users.ADNFCR-2524-ID-19487743-ADNFCR
