A new application has been released through the App Store which turns the iPod Touch into an e-reader.
Amazon announced earlier this week that its Kindle e-book reader is now available in application form in a free download from the Apple device’s store.
It means that users can now download books from their Mac or PC and transfer them to be read on their iPod Touch while they are travelling on a train or out and about.
Hundreds of thousands of books are currently available in the Kindle Store, negating the need for carrying and storing of bulky hardback versions.
The application also includes Amazon’s Whispersync, which allows people to seamlessly switch back and forth between a Kindle device and the iPod Touch, while keeping bookmarks and reading locations the same between devices.
Users also have the choice as to whether they want to read the book in portrait or landscape mode, while the background colours can also be dimmed if they are looking at the screen in low-light conditions.
