Consoles will ‘prove popular this Christmas’

All of the latest computer game consoles will prove popular Christmas presents this festive season, according to an industry expert.

Jamie Sefton, sector manager for professional video games network Game Republic, said that recent price drops will see consoles as one of the most popular presents this year.

“I can see all the consoles doing well – whether it is the Xbox 360, the Playstation 3, the Wii, or even the PC format. Particularly now that the prices have come down, it is really going to help shift the hardware from shops’ shelves,” he added.

Commenting on the most popular games which will be sitting under the Christmas tree, Mr Sefton said that Fifa 2010 “will do very well”, while Assassin’s Creed II and the new Super Mario Brothers game on the Wii will also be big sellers.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has also been the biggest selling game of 2009 and is expected to be very popular this Christmas.ADNFCR-2524-ID-19528634-ADNFCR
