Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 shoots to Christmas number one

While an X Factor hopeful and a US rock band battled it out for Christmas number one in the music charts, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 stormed to the title in the gaming sector.

Holding onto the top-spot for the seventh consecutive week, Call of Duty looks like finishing the decade standing on top of the pile, according to the latest figures from Chart Track.

However, in a Rage Against the Machine-style comeback, Fifa 10 also proved to be a very popular title over the Christmas period and currently remains only 2,000 units behind the war shooter.

With the festive period seeing a jam-packed football calendar being played out, those who have caught the bug might want to give one of the sport’s biggest selling games a try.

Assassin’s Creed II moved up two places over the Christmas period to third in the charts, while Nintendo Wii’s big three of Wii Sports Resor, Wii Fit Plus and Super Mario Bros are all proving very popular among gaming fans.ADNFCR-2524-ID-19533761-ADNFCR
