Apple’s iPhone and the Nintendo Wii have both been included in the Daily Telegraph’s list of the top ten gadgets of the noughties.
However, both products lost out to the eventual winner, the Apple iPod, which was described by the newspaper as “the undisputed gadget of the decade”.
Claudine Beaumont, technology editor for the Daily Telegraph, said that when the original iPod went on sale in October 2001, few could have predicted the way it would revolutionise the music industry.
Commenting on the Nintendo Wii games console, Ms Beaumont said: “More than 56 million Wiis have been sold worldwide and players can use it to experience everything from snowboarding to armed combat to balancing exercises.”
The iPhone also came in for praise from the editor, stating that it had redefined the mobile phone experience with its elegant touch-screen and handy features including navigation software.
Thanks to developers, the iPhone has gone from strength to strength, with over 100,000 applications currently available to download in the App Store.
