Owners of businesses looking to work on the move will be boosted by the release of a new add-on for the iPhone.
Morphie, the battery peripheral maker, is set to unveil its Credit Card Reader and application later this month.
It is the firm’s first attempt at entering the lucrative mobile payment systems market.
The add-on will allow iPhone-owning business owners to accept credit payments by swiping their card through an attachment which will plug into the bottom of the device.
Morphie’s add-on will face stiff competition from Jack Dorsey, a co-founder of Twitter, who is releasing a tiny credit card terminal which plugs into the headphone jack of the iPhone.
His company, known as Square, will enable anyone from a street vendor selling t-shirts to a businessman to be able to complete credit card transactions.
The new add-ons will help to emphasise the capabilities and suitability of the iPhone as a business device, which also includes applications to keep and eye on stocks and shares and spreadsheet viewing and editing software.
