Books now outnumbering games in App Store

iPod Touch users looking to add to their handheld device from the App Store have been told that there are now more books available to download than games.

Data from Mobclix has shown that there are now over 26,000 novels, guides and other literature in the App Store, overtaking the number of games which stands at around 24,000.

It is the first time that the figures have revealed the popularity of books on the handheld device, with Apple now having sold well over a billion applications since the phone’s launch.

The number of books now equates to more than an 18 per cent share of the App Store, with games taking up 17.6 per cent and entertainment programmes nearly 12 per cent.

Furthermore, there are also plenty of other applications to download across a number of categories, with nearly 8,000 lifestyle ones and over 5,000 sports utilities.

Mobclix also reported that Allin-1 Gamebox is one of the top paid-for applications in the App Store, featuring 25 titles for people to try out.ADNFCR-2524-ID-19647953-ADNFCR
