With the World Cup coming up later this summer, one of the biggest footballing battles might not be seen on the pitch, but in Apple’s App Store.
This is because Konami has confirmed that it will be releasing Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) 2010 for the iPod Touch and iPhone, sending it straight into a head-to-head tackle with EA Sport’s FIFA titles.
“To bring a game as complex and as playable as PES 2010 to iPhone and iPod touch has been a daunting challenge, but one that has paid off,” said Axel de Rouge, producer of the game for the Apple handset.
He added that the group has been working hard to ensure that all the slick moves, strong AI and aesthetic touches which the series is known for are included in the handheld version.
It will feature a UEFA Champions League mode, where gamers can take their favourite club to European glory, while Fulham fans will hope to win the Europa League in real life and on their phone in a dedicated game mode.
