Music lovers are being offered the chance to better protect their ears while enjoying their iPods.
With the popularity of Apple’s mobile music players showing no sign of waning, the European Commission recently took the step of warning users that listening to music using in-ear earphones at volumes above 89dB can lead to permanent hearing damage.
As a result of this, Phonak AG has announced the launch of its ’safe earphones’ designed to protect iPhone users from long-term hearing problems.
According to the firm, the foam tips on its Audeo Perfect Fit Earphones mean that they can help reduce external noise levels by up to 23 dB, with this thereby enabling users to listen to their favourite music without having to jeapordise on sound quality.
In addition to sound-reduction abilities, the new product also boasts treble and bass controls, meaning users can adjust their levels on the go.
At the same time, technology firm Scosche has launched a new in-car charger capable of powering an iPad and either an iPhone or an iPod at the same time.

There are two ways to look at the first-day sales of the iPad, either in a positive or a negative light, it has been suggested.
Apple claims that it sold more than 300,000 iPads on the device’s first day of sale, including deliveries of pre-ordered ones to customers, those going to channel partners and sales at Apple Retail Stores.
The new Apple iPad is without doubt the “best tech toy” that money can afford, according to a reviewer.
The iPad may not be the perfect product but it does have plenty going for it, according to PC Mag, which has reviewed the device ahead of its release on April 3rd.
Apple’s chief executive Steve Jobs has said that he is looking forward to the launch of the iPad, which will be introduced to the US market later this week.
