The modern person over 50 is opting for a range of high-tech presents this year, including products such as the Macbook, iPod Touch and iPhone.
According to data from technology firm Logitech, more than 58 per cent of those questioned said that they wanted state-of-the-art gear instead of slippers or handkerchiefs.
Yehia Oweiss, regional director for Logitech UK & Ireland, said that the research shows a growing demand for these gadgets from the over 50s age group.
“With Christmas just around the corner, we’re conscious that grandparents across the UK will be looking for expert help when it comes to getting all their new gadgets up and running and have made sure our support teams are on standby for a busy season,” he added.
Last week consumer electronics website Experian Hitwise said that handheld devices such as the iPhone and iPod Touch are the most-searched-for Christmas presents of 2009.
