Why is Madbid So Cheap? Another Cheap Car Sold in Essex

posted by Evelina

It seems shoppers from Essex have their bidding strategy figured out. Two car auctions in a row have been won by shoppers from the fake tan loving county. As noted by The Sunday Times and the BBC, on MadBid.com you can win big prizes for pennies, so it came as no surprise that the 18th brand new car worth £13,000 sold for £42. Why is Madbid so cheap? Well, it has a lot to do with bidding strategy.

We caught up with the 19th madbid car winner to find out what happened when she found out she won and how she got the car for such an amazing deal.

Where were you when you won the auction?

I was working the night shift at the hospital and was just starting my shift when my colleague told me my husband was calling. My husband never calls my work so my heart sank because I thought something really bad must have happened to my kids or someone died. When I picked up the phone he simply asked if I checked my text messages and told me I won the car. I could not believe it, even when I told everyone they could not believe it.

Did you really want to win the car?
I was quite adamant. The car we have now is on its last life line and it’s not really ideal for 3 teenage boys and 2 massive dogs so when I saw the Dream Come True auction I knew I really wanted to go for it.

Were you tempted to go for the holiday deal?
Yes, I would have loved to take the whole family on a luxurious trip as the weather has been quite bad but I had to think practically and the car will be more useful in the long run.

What other products have you won on MadBid?
I’ve won a few laptops and iPhone’s; it’s quite fun taking part in auctions.

What will be your first road trip?
Well, I think it will be quite a trip getting back from the dealership especially if it’s in central London.

What advice do you have for new bidders?
I think if you really want to win a big item you need to save up your credits and look out for special credit package deals and also do think about the strategy as you do not want to waste credits when you could be saving them.

The second Dream Come True auction closed during the Easter Weekend for £1,877, inclduing the credits spent in the auction -that’s a saving of over £9,000! If you have any questions you want us to send to the winner or would like to know more about our Dream Come True auctions, get in touch.

The official car handover will be taking place in London in a few months’ time so do come back to check out the car handover video.

And if you are wondering, how can MadBid afford these prices? Well, unsurprisingly like any other traditional e-commerce company. The earned discount that customers have after bidding in auctions can be used to purchase a variety of products on the website. MadBid buys these products at a wholesale price and sells to customers for normal market price.
