1) Facebook – With 1 in 3 people in the world registered on Facebook, the app for the iPad is a must for many. The Facebook app for the iPad offers a much more in-depth experience than the iPhone app. It is free and is much more streamlined than the iPhone.

2) Air Video – With the size of the screen coupled with the quality of the display the iPad really is a great media player. Although you can transfer movies and music to your iPad via iTunes it can be a long and complicated process. That’s where Air Video comes in, just install the free app on your iPad and then download the free server client on your PC and tell it what you want to transfer and in no time at all you will be watching your favourite movies on the go.

3) KindleApples IBooks app is good but when it comes to to content selection, Amazon is still king. Kindle for the Ipad is a really good e-reader app, and makes it easy to browse through books. It seamlessly launches the web-based book store to make purchasing a snap.

4) Mondo Solitaire – Mondo solitaire comes in two varieties, a pack of the most popular games or the whole shebang. If you like card games, we recommend getting the full package and then having a blast playing through tons of your favourite games.

PC Giant Dell joins tablet PC market

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

_47049669_tablet-threesome-bodThe world’s No 3. Computer manufacturer Dell has announced its new tablet PC known as the ‘Streak’ and the ‘Mini 5’. Dell has confirmed that this is the first of many new products planned.

The streak runs on Google’s Android system and is a bit smaller than most tablets with just a 5” screen, although reports suggest Dell also has a 7” and 10” tablet in the pipeline. Tavis Butler of Dell told the BBC that “This is the first in a family of devices”.

According to analyst firm CCS insight over 1.3 billion mobile devices will be sold around the world in 2010.  Dell obviously wants to move into this space much more prominently although it appears as if they will be targeting business users more so that mainstream consumers.

The ‘Streak’ was first shown off at the Consumer Electronics show earlier this year. The product seems in a unique position as it is larger than a smart-phone such as an iPhone but smaller than an iPad and as such offers an alternative to both these products.

The first ‘Streak’ comes with 3G and wi-fi connectivity, 16GB of storage, GPS and two cameras. It will be available in the UK from June and will be distributed exclusively through the Carphone Warehouse on O2 service plans.

New iPod Touch to feature camera?

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

196658-ipodtouchwithcamera_350As Apple struggles to contain it’s prototypes, there is yet another leak. Rumour has it Apple‘s latest iPod Touch is getting a 2-Megapixel Camera.

The 64 GB device features a 2-megapixel camera and based on its markings it appears to be a test unit. Without word from Apple there is no concrete information as to when or even if this new model will hit UK shelves.

So while this iPod Touch could be the real deal, it’s hard to know for sure whether it is an old propotype or something Apple is currently working on. Realistically it could be 2011 before we see a new iPod hit the shops as Apple typically announces new iPods in September.

iPhone 3G is ‘technology at its best’

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

Apple’s iPhone 3G shows off technology at its finest, according to an expert.

David Hobson, writing for PressDistribution.net, said the handset is “one great device” which combines a mobile phone, multimedia player and a web browser in one neat package.

He went on to say that it can also do much more, adding that it gives people high quality entertainment that could never have been imagined possible on a mobile phone.

“It has its own distinctive look and design and it also has a radiant touchscreen interface that you would definitely want in your iPhone. The 3G is a buttonless device that looks beautiful and desirable,” he said, adding that it really does deliver what it promises.

Furthermore, Mr Hobson commented that the ability to watch movies and play online games was another winning factor.

People looking to keep up-to-date with their social activities can also log onto Facebook, MySpace and Twitter from their iPhone 3G.ADNFCR-2524-ID-19770170-ADNFCR

Friday, May 7th, 2010

With the World Cup coming up later this summer, one of the biggest footballing battles might not be seen on the pitch, but in Apple‘s App Store.

This is because Konami has confirmed that it will be releasing Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) 2010 for the iPod Touch and iPhone, sending it straight into a head-to-head tackle with EA Sport’s FIFA titles.

“To bring a game as complex and as playable as PES 2010 to iPhone and iPod touch has been a daunting challenge, but one that has paid off,” said Axel de Rouge, producer of the game for the Apple handset.

He added that the group has been working hard to ensure that all the slick moves, strong AI and aesthetic touches which the series is known for are included in the handheld version.

It will feature a UEFA Champions League mode, where gamers can take their favourite club to European glory, while Fulham fans will hope to win the Europa League in real life and on their phone in a dedicated game mode.ADNFCR-2524-ID-19764076-ADNFCR
