Xbox Live voters elect Nick Clegg as prime minister

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

A virtual poll which has been running on Xbox Live has resulted in Nick Clegg being elected as prime minister.

The Liberal Democrats managed to claim 30 per cent of the votes in the poll which was made available as people logged onto their Xbox Live profile.

Furthermore, David Cameron’s Conservative Party received 20.7 per cent of the vote, while 17.6 per cent said that they would vote for Gordon Brown and the Labour Party.

However, 31.6 per cent of Xbox Live users said that they were undecided about which way they would cast their vote, with the Guardian’s Greg Howson stating that Cameron could do with an all-night online session of Modern Warfare 2 to swing people’s opinions.

Stephen McGill, director of Xbox, said: “Whilst the Xbox 360 Live survey is in no way intended to be statistically representative, given the enormous number of votes cast online over the Bank Holiday weekend, we believe our results provide a telling barometer of political attitudes amongst 18 to 30-year-olds nationwide.”
