Grok and Telegram: No Deal
American billionaire Elon Musk has denied reports that his company, xAI, has signed an agreement with Telegram to integrate the AI-powered bot Grok into the messenger. Musk clarified the situation on his social network, X:
“There was no agreement signed,” he stated briefly.
This information was confirmed by Telegram’s founder, Pavel Durov, who commented:
“True. We have a general understanding, but formalities still need to be worked out.”
Earlier reports claimed that the neural network would assist users in composing messages, generating avatars, summarizing PDFs and websites, moderating chats, and creating animated stickers.
It was said that under the agreement, Telegram users would get free access to the Grok chatbot for one year, with integration directly into the messenger for over a billion users worldwide.
According to Durov’s statement on X, Telegram was expected to receive $300 million in cash from xAI, as well as 50% of the revenue from Grok subscriptions purchased via the platform.
This deal would mark Grok’s first major expansion beyond Musk’s X platform, offering the AI bot access to Telegram’s enormous active user base of over 1 billion people monthly.
